Gunter City Council Approves Upgrades to City Park Ballfields
The Gunter City Council unanimously approved the purchase of new scoreboards and backstops for the ballfields at Gunter City Park at a recent, specially-called city council meeting.
Both the Gunter Parks Board and the Gunter Youth Association (GYA) are composed of volunteers from the Gunter community who devote time, energy, and personal resources to provide residents and their children with recreational opportunities.
“Operational scoreboards and functional backstops are important to our residents who use the facilities,” said Craig Johnson, President of the GYA. “We appreciate the support of the city as we work together, pooling our resources to provide excellent facilities for our youth.”
The Gunter City Park is an integral part of the city’s quality of life initiative, providing a place for families to gather, spend time together, and build memories.
“The efforts of the GYA and the Parks Board are valued by the City Council and staff,” said Rick Chaffin, City Manager. “We look forward to a renewed partnership and collaboration moving forward. We sincerely appreciate the collaboration among the Parks Board, GYA, and the city. Specifically, we appreciate the work that Detra Gaines, City Secretary, and Brent Friday, GYA Softball Commissioner, have undertaken in facilitating these improvements.”
