Larry Peters


Larry Peters has served on the Gunter City Council since July 2011 and on the Parks Board for over six years. He was instrumental in moving City Hall to its present location and improving Gunter city park. 

Larry worked in law enforcement for over 45 years, starting at the FBI Identification Division in Washington, D.C., where he trained in Fingerprint Classification and five other specialized topics. He worked for the Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation for eight years and retired after 20 years with the Norman, Oklahoma, Police Department as a Crime Scene Investigator.

After retiring and moving to Texas, Larry worked for the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office in Ft. Worth for three years and at the Drug Enforcement Administration Laboratory in Dallas for 14 years before retiring again. He has over 1500 hours of law enforcement training and is a Certified Latent Fingerprint Expert and Questioned Document Examiner. He has published papers and taught forensics courses at Police Academies around the country.

Serving his country in the United States Army Reserves as a Military Police officer is one of Larry's proudest accomplishments. He retired with over 29 years of service as a Master Sergeant.

Larry's goal is to serve the citizens of Gunter and do what is best for all citizens, and he's looking forward to being part of Gunter's bright future.
