Spencer Marks spent most of his childhood in a small town south of Abilene, Texas. His small-town upbringing and love for the outdoors led him to raise his family in a similar environment.
Spencer and his wife Lisa moved to Celina in 2002. They soon had twins and outgrew their home. They found their perfect home in Gunter and relocated with their three children in March 2011.
Spencer and Lisa are active in the community. They opened Hometown Mercantile in 2016, a small boutique offering everything from women's apparel to home goods to gifts. Spencer is also heavily involved in FFA, supporting his daughters' passion for showing animals.
As a small business owner raising his family in Gunter, Spencer wanted to play an integral role in the success of our community, so he ran for Place 3 on the city council, and citizens elected him in May 2018.
Spencer graduated from Trinity University with a Master of Science Degree in Healthcare Administration and from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology. He has spent most of his career in healthcare, including revenue cycle, data analytics, and healthcare technology. He has recently begun a career in property, casualty, life, and health insurance.
Spencer, Lisa, and their children Abby, Emma, and Wilson live in Gunter
