As a longtime Gunter resident and active community member, Cheyrl Cohagan has witnessed Gunter's changing environment over the last several years. She loves the rural, neighborly spirit of the community and is committed to keeping Gunter's small-town charm as its population and business opportunities grow.
Before being appointed to City Council in 2020, Cheyrl served on the Economic Development Corporation Board from 2016 to the present and on the Gunter Development Review Board from 2019 to the present.
In addition to her roles in the city, she serves on The Bridges Representative Board and as co-administrator of Gunter Growth. She is a member of the Gunter Business Networking Association and teaches children's church at First Baptist Church of Gunter.
Cheyrl holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education, a Master's Degree in Educational Administration, and an Educational Diagnostician certification from The University of North Texas.
Cheyrl is retired after serving 32 years as Gunter Elementary School principal. She lives in Gunter with her husband, Rick, her daughter, Jill, and her grandchildren.
