Planning and Zoning


The Planning and Zoning Commission is responsible for reviewing all new commercial and residential developments proposals that plan to locate within the City. The Commission reviews and makes recommendations to the City Council on subdivision plats, site plans, Zoning Ordinance amendments, Comprehensive Plan amendments, specific use permits and rezoning requests.

Master Plan

The City of Gunter has developed a Comprehensive (Master) Plan to guide development of the city. Volume 1 includes the following topics: Population; Housing; Land Use; Parks; Thoroughfares. Volume 2 includes the following topics: Streets; Drainage; Wastewater; Water; Economic Development; Capital Improvements Plan.

Board Members

Membership consists of five members and two alternates.  All volunteers must live in the city limits or ETJ,  however, the majority must live in the city limits.  Members serve for two-year staggered terms. Meetings normally occur on the second Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m.

Upcoming meeting dates can be found on the Event Calendar and agendas are posted 72 hours prior to the meeting on the website and the bulletin board outside the main entrance door at City Hall. Notices which must be advertised are published in the official city paper.
